Hats off to Paul Molitor and the Minnesota Twins for the way they treated Joe Mauer’s last game of 2018. I am hoping he comes back next year, but I also know he is a family man who puts God and family ahead of everything else and is the classiest athlete in all of sports. He deserves all the accolades he gets, not only for having the sweetest swing in baseball and being the best catcher and hitter of his era, but for the professionalism he shows every game. Many, many kids, including one of my own nephews, consider Joe their favorite player and he is one player who any parent would want their kid to follow.

Thanks Joe for so many great memories of you in a Twins uniform and for the tremendous way in which you live outside the ballpark.

To the Minnesota Twins organization for firing manager Paul Molitor.

I don’t think he was given a chance to turn the baseball team around.  Paul was AL Manager of the Year in 2017. It was the organization who traded great players, and Paul can’t be blamed for players’ injuries.

The Twins used to be known for loyalty and giving managers room to grow and succeed — not anymore.

Paul, you are the best! See you at a Springsteen concert!

HOW HEARTY MINNESOTANS ARE!

On Sat. Sept. 29,  the temperatures were in the 40s,  and 285 runners turned out at 11 a.m.  for the 7th annual Shortest Marathon in White Bear Lake. This is a fundraiser for the local food shelf,  and all these people of ALL ages came and ran or walked (some in wheel chairs)  the “one block”  marathon for this worthy cause.

It shows what big hearts and brave souls we have in this wonderful state. Thanks to all who braved this chilly morning to put food on the tables of those in temporary need of assistance. Our efforts will supply them with MANY nutritional meals.

Thank you also to the businesses that support this event.

Upon my arrival at Arabella Hair Salon in Shoreview for my hair appointment on Sept. 4, it was raining cats and dogs. Liana, one of the hair stylists, met me outside by the car with an umbrella, and helped me into the salon. I am elderly and need assistance. When my appointment was finished and I was ready to leave, Ben, the receptionist, cheerfully assisted me with an umbrella and escorted me to the car. He was so friendly.

I think America needs more people like Liana and Ben, who help people in need of a helping hand.

Sainted to the young fireman who volunteers at the Ordway Concert Hall. He met us at the curb with a wheelchair, took us to our seats, refused a tip, and even came to us during the intermission to see if we had any needs, and then, after the concert, he returned to take my husband back to the curb. We didn’t get his name but he is truly Minnesota Nice!

He will make it possible for us to continue coming to the Ordway.

I’m sorry to disagree with the article from the Washington Post regarding our Sen. Klobuchar. I’m an independent voter and have voted for Klobuchar since her first election. Until this year, I applauded her for usually voting for bills that were good for the people of Minnesota and not necessarily just good for the DFL. No longer is this the case. Many bills, appointments and votes have been excellent for us Minnesota citizens, but she has abandoned us to become just another DFL Party obstructionist. So disappointed!!
