Ray and Jean (Adson) Ellis will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on May 20, 2015. Ray was born in Pueblo and Jean in Jaroso. Both graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo, Ray in 1951 and Jean in 1952.

Although they knew each other in high school, it wasn’t until the summer of 1954 that they connected at a swimming hole east of Pueblo. Ray was attending the University of Colorado and Jean was in training to become an x-ray technician. They married at the First Baptist Church in Pueblo on May 20, 1955.

Ray graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in business and in 1972, received a Masters of Business Administration. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where Ray was employed by Loomis Hydraulic Testing Company. Jean was an x-ray technician at Thomas Spann Medical Clinic. She left work to raise their children after their first daughter was born. Ray was transferred to Hobbs, N. M. in 1960 where they remained until returning to Colorado in 1966. Ray was employed by E. Bolay Associates in Boulder until they ceased operations and then Rocky Mountain Orthodontics in Denver for 23 years until his retirement in 1993. Jean was employed at Boulder Memorial Hospital and later at Avista Hospital as a receptionist and medical transcriber in the x-ray department until her retirement in 1995. In 2002, they relocated to Longmont.

They feel blessed that their daughters, Renee (Bill) Osborn, Michelle (Jayme) McCoy and Lorri (Jeff) Strizich, all live in the area and as do their three grandchildren, Nicole (Brandon) Alford, Marcus (Brittanie) McCoy, and Lindsey Strizich who is a student at Colorado State University.

After retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home throughout the United States and Canada and spending winters in South Padre Island, Texas. Jean enjoys quilting, playing MahJongg and bridge while Ray is an occasional golfer. They enjoy the closeness of family and are active members of Calvary Church of Longmont.
