Bruce Springsteen, Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band go shopping for guitars in Boston

Music legends Bruce Springsteen and Peter Wolf from the J. Geils Band shopped for music gear at the Mr. Music store in the Allston section of Boston on Friday, Jan. 25.
The two stopped in for “a quick visit,” according to Boston.com.
“He sat down and started playing guitar. Him and Peter were just jamming along, trying out some pedals,” said Mr. Music owner Tom Barone to Boston.com. “He just poked around, checked out all my stuff, sat there, shot the (blank) with the salesman.”
Wolf has been a regular for decades at Mr. Music but this was Springsteen’s first visit. There’s a concert pic of the Boss from a ‘70s Boston Garden show on the wall.

“I’d forgotten I’d put it there, and I’m so happy I did,” Barone said. “He saw it, and pointed and laughed, and he said to Steve (Sidhly, salesperson), ‘What’s that?’ And Steve said, ‘Oh, that guy? He ain’t that good, don’t worry about him.’”
Barone was not in the shop the day Springsteen came in.

“I’ve been here since I was 14, for Chrissakes. I’m always here,” Barone said. “Never take a day off! And the one day I take off … My wife had me go somewhere, and I said, ‘I told you I shouldn’t have gone! I should’ve been there!’”
Mr. Music posted security camera pics of the Boss and Wolf visit on their Facebook page.
This was the second Springsteen sighting in Boston in the last two weeks. He and wife Patti Scialfa stopped into the Bebop, an Irish pub, on Jan 11.
The Springsteens are no strangers to Boston. Evan Springsteen, the oldest son of Springsteen and Scialfa, graduated Boston College in 2013.
Wolf is a regular with Springsteen and the E Street Band when the group plays the TD Garden in Boston. The two appeared at the Laid Back Music Festival in September of ‘17 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel with Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul and Jackson Browne, but not on stage together.
