The Unexhaustible and Wonderful Nebrasketball News Dump from the Fingers of Those Who Should Produce Better Content

It’s coming...

NCAA Basketball: Big Ten Media Day Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

Believe it or not, we are getting close to the start of the 2018-19 NCAA men’s basketball season. I know it doesn’t feel like it as we are only roughly half way through the football calendar but basketball is practically here.

This past week we had a few news updated to this years squad along with the Big Ten Media days going on in Chicago. If you have been following along at home you might have noticed that this years Nebrasketball squad is getting some much deserved attention. Coach Tim Miles is bringing back a majority of last years squad who should be a contender for the tournament at the end of the year.

First off we have NCAA basketball guru Andy Katz putting Nebraska at #16 in his preseason power poll. He expects this years squad to do just as well in the wins column and make the tournament when it’s all said and done.

On another note, Creighton didn’t make the top 36 for all of you anti-Jayskers out there.

Matt Davison will not be coming back this season to do color with Kent Pavelka as he has been promoted to Associate Athletic Director for football. I’m not 100%, but I think he helping out getting Scott Frost to come back and take over the football program might have ad something to do with it.

Coming in to replace him is former Husker basketball player Jake Muhleisen. Jake subbed in for Matt last year and was given the full time gig this past week. Matt was a great partner with Kent during broadcasts and will be missed. However, Jake proved himself astute enough to fill his shoes last season when Matt had to take time away.

Nebraska basketball freshman Karrington Davis to miss season

The Nebraska basketball team got its first piece of bad news on Monday afternoon as it announced Karrington Davis is out for the year.

On a disappointing note we learned this week that freshman Karrington Davis will be missing the entire season with an Achilles injury. Karrington is a 6’6” small forward coming out of Florida. It would have been nice to have him develop this year and possibly see some playing time as the season went along. The Huskers need all that they can get in the paint but they are use to getting by short in this department so the adjustment should be okay in the long run for the team.

Finally, we have Big Ten media days in Chicago where coach Miles kept his usual sense of humor on par for the event.

Tim Miles brought James Palmer Jr., Isaac Copeland, Glynn Watson Jr, and Isaiah Roby to take part in the festivities. On Wednesday the Huskers were picked to finish fourth in the unofficial media poll. Also, James Palmer Jr. was picked by the media to be on the preseason All Big Ten Team.

Until next time, Nebrasketball Folk...
