For another year, the Wausau community will help support Marathon County students who serve in the Hmong community.

To tell us how you can help and share a piece of their culture was Yauo Yang and Mang Xiong with the 4th annual Dream Big 2056 Dinner.

April 9, 2016 marks the 40th year anniversary of when the first Hmong American family arrived in Marathon County. The fundraiser theme, "Dream Big: 2056" is intended to suggest that while Hmong Americans have made significant strides in the community, there is still much that is desired to be achieved into the next 40 years.

“We believe that providing an opportunity for Hmong American students to obtain a college (certification or degree programs) is an important step in helping our community succeed as a whole.”

The scholarships that are made possible through the Dream Big: 2056 fundraiser will be given to a total of four Hmong students each year who not only plan to complete college (certification or degree programs) but to return to Marathon County to live and to serve within the community.

All funds for the dinner raised, goes towards the Hmong Higher Education Scholarship fund at the Community Foundation. A small portion is set aside for the following year's event.

Organizer also encourage members of the community to stop into the Hmong American Center to learn more about their impactful programs for the youth and our community.

This year’s "Dream Big: 2056" will be held Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday, April 6 5 to 8 p.m.

There will also be a cash bar and our silent action.
