Loudon County Public Schools Make Weather Call For March 22

Loudon County Public Schools have made a weather decision regarding classes for Thursday, March 22.

ASHBURN, VA— As the regions digs out of a spring snowstorm Loudon County Public Schools will be closed Thursday, March 22, officials said. All activities are cancelled and all administrative offices will be closed.

Snow is still falling in the D.C. region, but the show is probably just about over for us as far as accumulation is concerned, the Capital Weather Gang said. Snow will likely to continue into evening but lessen in intensity, becoming more spotty between 4 and 6 p.m. from southwest to northeast. Accumulation will slow, allowing road conditions to improve. Snowfall ranges from 2 to 6 inches by late Wednesday afternoon, but higher amounts are possible, especially east and northeast of Washington.

The Virginia Department of Transportation warns that many Northern Virginia roads are currently snow-covered. "The Virginia Department of Transportation asks drivers to continue to avoid driving for safety during the height of today's winter storm," the update reads. "As snow continues, even roads where plows have made a pass can quickly become covered. While interstates are mostly wet, ramps and shoulders remain slush-covered. Primary and secondary roads across the region are snow-covered or slushy. Snowfall, as well as vehicles kicking up slush, are limiting visibility."
