Motorcyclist dies in Escondido head-on crash
A motorcyclist died in Escondido Thursday night when he veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with a car, police said.
Witnesses told police the motorcyclist failed to stay in his own lane as he rounded a deep curve in eastbound Grand Avenue approaching Bear Valley Parkway about 11:50 p.m.
He struck a westbound Honda Accord driven by a 28-year-old man, Escondido police Lt. Mike Kearney said..
Medics were not able to save the 45-year-old motorcycle rider. The car driver was unhurt, Kearney said.
He said the car driver was not under the influence, but blood tests on the motorcycle rider have not been completed.
