NEW YORK — Snow blanketed parts of the tri-state area Thursday in an early winter storm that caught many by surprise.
Accumulation in Central Park beat records for the date dating back to 1869. It was also the earliest date Central Park recorded 6 inches or more of snow.
Snowfall totals as of 9:35 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service, were:
