Three players make Shrine Bowl roster
On Monday, three Anderson area players found out they would represent South Carolina in the 80th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
Quarterback Jackson Williamson and defensive back Lummie Young, both from Westside, and defensive end Brad Johnson, from Pendleton, will represent the Anderson area.
Williamson, a 6-3 signal caller, is verbally committed to Miami of Ohio while Young, a 6-2 safety, is committed to Duke University. Johnson is considered the fifth best player in the state, and is regarded as the No. 22 weak-side defensive end in the country. He has multiple Division I scholarship offers but has not made a commitment.
The Shrine Bowl pits the top graduating seniors from South Carolina against their counterparts from North Carolina. The game is scheduled for Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg.
North Carolina won last year's game 54-39. The win snapped a three-year streak for South Carolina.
