GAINESVILLE, Mo. — Two earthquakes were reported in southern Missouri over the weekend.

A 2.2 magnitude earthquake was reported Saturday at about 5:31 p.m. The earthquake originated about 21 kilometers northwest of Gainesville, Missouri.

A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was reported Sunday at about 11:02 a.m. The earthquake originated about 4 kilometers southeast of Lilbourn, Missouri. Lilbourn, Missouri is within the New Madrid seismic zone.

Both earthquakes were reported by the United States Geological Survey and the New Madrid Seismic Network.
