Rangers and Aberdeen are set for a quick-fire Premiership double header after the Betfred Cup scheduling clashed with the two sides' Ibrox league encounter.

Pedro Caixinha's men were originally pencilled in for a clash with the Dons on Saturday 21 October but that fixture has been moved to accomodate Rangers ' Hampden semi-final against Motherwell.

The Gers will now take on Stephen Robinson's side at the national stadium that weekend, with the season's first meeting with Aberdeen re-arranged for Wednesday 29 November.

Caixinha will then take his squad north to Pittodrie just a few days later on Sunday 3 December for another clash with Derek McInnes' men.

With Celtic widely tipped to cruise to another Premiership crown, the two meetings between the Gers and the Dons could prove a critical momentum-builder in the race for second spot.

Aberdeen picked up their first win at Ibrox in 26 years last season, but the Gers also enjoyed a memorable 3-0 success at Pittodrie just over a month earlier.

McInnes' team currently sit second in the top-flight standings, while Rangers lie six points behind in fifth position.
