Roberta (Bobbie) Seger Sullivan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 23, 2019 amidst the newly emerging spring blossoms of her gardens, after a long life lived on our beautiful Mother Earth. She was loved by everyone who knew her, was passionate about protecting all animals and the environment, helped start recycling in Granby, and sent support to the less fortunate especially the Native Americans. She was extremely generous and every time we were fortunate to receive something beyond the norm, she would say, “Who can we give this to?” Bobbie donated her entire Social Security income to the numerous charities she supported. Among her many volunteer activities she was Co-Chairman for Valley Pre School and Director of Marquis of Granby Fyfe & Drum Corps for many years. She was a librarian at Kelly Lane School and Cossitt library and was an avid reader. Bobbie started story hours at Cossitt and ran the summer reading programs. She was the mainstay for many years leading the Friends of The Cossitt Library and ran numerous used book sales and tag sales raising funds for the Friends. For the last 10 years Bobbie was the chief pots & pan washer at Granby’s Waste Not Want Not Community Kitchen. In recent years she volunteered at Mary’s Kitty Korner in Granby, a no kill cat shelter. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bruce Sullivan of Granby, her daughters; Carol A. Sullivan of East Hartland and Lynne D. Sullivan of Longmont, CO, and her brother; Ken (Carol) Seger of Des Peres, MO. She was pre-deceased by her sister Sharon (Jerry) Hakes of Grants Pass OR, her sisters-in-law Betty Fink, of Riverton, WY and Shirley (Tony) Gagliola of Omaha, NE and many in-laws on the Sullivan side. The family thanks the many friends who brought food and supplies and offers to help, and a special thank you to the hospice nurse Sandra Delaire of Hartford Health Care at Home. Per Bobbie’s request, there will be no public service or memorials. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of The Cossitt Library programs fund, at PO Box 98 North Granby, CT 06060, or to Mary’s Kitty Korner at P.O.
