ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - A community came together to help those with addiction Saturday afternoon.

A barbecue fundraiser was held at Plumber's and Pipes Fitters Local 13 on Mt. Read Boulevard to get more detox beds in Monroe County.

The fundraiser was held in honor of Brandon LaJuette-Budinski, who died of a heroin overdose nearly a year ago.

Brandon's father, Fred LaJuette, says getting more detox beds in the county would make a big difference.

"Sometimes the window of opportunity comes where they say "okay, we're broken, we need help," and then they get turned away and they say "come back,"" said LeJuette. "And that's the sad part. We want to try and correct that and make a difference in that."

A local group called S.O.A.R.S. will use the proceeds from the fundraiser to try and get the detox beds.
