Dawn M. Havel, 67, of Cuba, KS, the daughter of Melvin J. Naiman and Lyla (Pleis) Naiman, was born March 27, 1951 in Fairbury, NE and passed away on November 6, 2018 in St. Francis, KS.
Dawn grew up in Endicott, NE where she attended grade school, later graduating from Fairbury High School in 1969. She then attended Fairbury Junior College, graduating in 1971. Dawn was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Endicott, Nebraska where she attended regularly through her days in Endicott.
On June 24, 1973, Dawn was united in marriage to Louis Ray Havel in the United Methodist Church in Endicott and to this union was born Grant, Garth, and Garet. The couple made their residence on the home farm in rural Cuba, KS.
Dawn was involved in secretarial work at the local elevator and Scott Specialities. Starting in 1999, she and her husband owned and operated Havel’s Gardens in Cuba, KS until his death in 2013.

Dawn also was a teaching para professional for the Hillcrest and later Republic County School Systems for nearly 20 years. Dawn was the co-superintendent, along with her husband, of the Poultry Barn at the NCK Free Fair in Republic County for many years. She had also been the Jefferson Township treasurer since 2002 and was a member of the Cuba Booster Club.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lyla Naiman, her husband Louis Ray Havel in 2013, and one niece, Melanie Uher.
Dawn is survived by three sons, Grant L. Havel of St. Francis, KS, Garth B. (Amy) Havel of Cuba, KS and Garet M. (Elsa) Havel of Ulysses, KS; 8 grandchildren; 5 sisters, Krystal (Ray) Uher of Wilber, NE, and Gaynelle (Eldon) Ideus of Pickrell, NE, Jule (Gordon) Maahs of Bennet, NE, Hope (Donnie) Wallman of Courtland, NE and Melody (Lawrence) Johnsen of Beatrice, NE; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Presbyterian Church Cuba, KS with Pastor Phil Goombi officiating.
Interment will be at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery rural Cuba, KS.
Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the
Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6 PM until 7 PM on Friday.
