British powerhouse vocalist Jessie J is known best for her hits (“Price Tag,” “Do It Like A Dude,” “Bang Bang”), as well as her powerhouse vocal ability and dexterity. (If you haven’t yet, check out this bedroom-style performance of early cut “Mama Know’s Best” for the full range of her vocal acrobatics!)
But what many don’t realize is the star — born Jessie Cornish — is also a top songwriter. Take a listen to 5 songs she penned for other artists.
1. Miley Cyrus, “Party In The U.S.A.”
The most widely known Jessie J-penned track, 2009’s “Party” also secured the songwriter a No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding for 28 weeks on the chart, and serving as the then-rising singer’s first real pop crossover hit. In an interview with Glamour UK, the star also revealed that royalties from the hit paid her rent for “like, 3 years” (!) Put your hands up, they’re playing your song…

2. David Guetta, “Repeat”
The songbird not only assisted with writing the DJ/producer’s “Repeat,” but she also lent her vocals for the official version of the tune, included as the penultimate track on his 2011 LP Nothing But The Beat (which also included his mega-hit with Sia, “Titanium.”)
3. Chris Brown, “I Need This”
The same year as the singer’s highly publicized altercation with then-girlfriend Rihanna, Brown released this R&B slow jam on his LP Graffiti. Jessie liked the track so much that she even recorded (and released) a version herself.
4. Koda Kumi, “V.I.P”
For her tenth LP Japonesque, Japanese pop artist Koda Kumi enlisted both Jessie and T-Pain to pen this 2012 track “V.I.P.,” which the latter featured on for the official version.
5. DJ Cassidy, “Calling All Hearts” ft. Robin Thicke
While the prelude to this official video is a little cringe-worthy (“I just can’t do this Cassidy, it’s me or the music,” his lover says), DJ Cassidy’s “Calling All Hearts,” featured a “Blurred Lines”-era Thicke and was a hit in the U.K., and listed JJ as a co-writer.
