Banta Banta, Charles E. “Chuck, age 83, of Braselton, GA passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Ratterman Banta. He would want to be remembered most as a loving husband, father, papa and a servant of the Lord. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Donald Snyder, Braselton, GA and Teresa and Vincent Muller, Wellington, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Edith Banta, Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Jason Snyder, Athens, GA, Beth and Chad Morley, Cranberry TWP, PA, Michael Muller, Wellington, FL, Nicole Muller, Wellington, FL, Jeremy Banta, Dawsonville, GA, Nicholas Banta, Dawsonville, GA, Tyler Banta, Dawsonville, GA, and (Nick Hussain), Athens, GA; sister Alletha Snabley, California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Banta was born September 26, 1925 in Hamilton County, OH. He was a World War II army veteran having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served seventeen months in the European Theatre as a radio operator. He was worked in the title insurance industry for 59 years as a master abstractor and branch manager. He retired from Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund in Broward County, FL where he spent the bulk of his career. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Margate, FL. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 9:00 am at Forest Lawn South Cemetery in Davie, FL. The family will receive friends at T.M. Ralph Funeral Home, Sawgrass Chapel, 371 Northwest 136th Avenue, Sunrise, FL 33325 on Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Cosimano Cosimano, Veto C., 96, of Tamarac, died on April 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Dunlo, PA, moved to NJ in 1936 where he started his own manufacturing business until his move to Sunrise, FL in 1971 where he owned and operated an interior design company. Veto was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Sunrise, and a life-long member of The Knights of Columbus and local Council 5971, in Plantation, FL. He performed extensive charity work for the Seminarian Priests of Boynton Beach, his church, K of C and the VA Hospital. Veto was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Joann, and his daughter, Theresa. Survivors include his children, Rosalie Saltiel of Tamarac, Cosimo (Sondra) Cosimano of Palm Beach Co., Dr. Michael Cosimano of Fort Lauderdale, and Vincent Vitale (son-in-law) of Port St. Lucie; three sisters, Marion Sansone of San Antonio, TX, Josephine Miragliotta of Edison, NJ, and Gaetana (Ida) Mangarella of New Brunswick, NJ; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grand-children, and two great-great-grand-children. Gaughan Gaughan, Reverend James M., PhD, 62, Hollywood, FL, went to the Lord at Holy Cross Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Born December 9, 1946 in Omaha, NE son of the late James and Sophie (Paskevic) Gaughan. Survived by brother Michael and sister-in-law Vivian of Reston, VA; and life long friend Father Anthony Petrusic of Hollywood, FL. Father Gaughan received his Bachelor’s Degree from Crighton University in 1969, MA Degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha in 1988 and his PhD from Barry University in 1999. He received his Degree in Theology from St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN. He was ordained a priest on May 25, 1974 at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral in Omaha, NE, with the Archdiocese of Omaha where he served at various parishes and educational facilities. He transferred to the dioceses of Mandeville, Jamaica in 1999 with Food for the Poor, where he worked to spread the word for his love of the poor by assisting the needy in the Caribbean. Father James was a lifelong member of the Croatian Catholic Union and the Croatian Fraternal Union. Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, Johnstown, PA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rochus Catholic Church in Johnstown, PA at 1:00pm Saturday, Father Anthony Petrusic and Father Charles Amershek will concelebrate. Grieco Grieco, Andrew Louis, 66, of Greenacres FL, a 38 year resident of south Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, NY passed away Friday, April 24, 2009. Andrew served in Law Enforcement for over 37 years; he worked for the NYPD for 5 years before moving to Florida and joining the Pompano Beach Police Department as a Sergeant for 10 years, then finishing his career with the State Attorney’s Office. Andrew was active in the Boca Raton Community at Pope John Paul High School and coached for the Boca Jets Football program for 9 years. Andrew is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 41 years, Arlene Grieco; sons, Andrew (Annamaria) Grieco and Christopher (Cynthia) Grieco; grand-children: Austin, Alexa, Emma, Alex, and Nicholas. Sayrs Sayrs, H. Paul, 62, of Delray Beach and formerly of Interlaken, NJ slipped away from our sight on April 27, 2009. During his 34 years with the School District of Palm Beach County he served in variety of roles, primarily serving special needs students and the ‘judicially challenged’ with honesty, compassion, humor and love. His great sense of humor, thirst for knowledge, gift of teaching, and kind sage counsel will be sorely missed. As he fought a courageous battle against cancer, he continued to provide lessons of strength, dignity, and character. Strauss Strauss, Margaret “Peg”, age 82, of Lighthouse Point, FL, passed away on April 10, 2009 while playing bridge. She graduated from Rochester High School and USC with honors. On November 18, 1959 she married Wayne Strauss. She was an executive secretary for companies in Japan, Indonesia, Sumatra, Philadelphia, California, and Lighthouse Point. She was a past president and member of the Lighthouse Point Women’s Club and enjoyed golf, water skiing, dancing and bridge. Survivors include her husband Wayne, sister, Barbara Ferguson of Rochester, MN and brother, Bill Brown of Erie, CO.

Wright Wright, Charlotte, 90, a long time resident of Pembroke Pines, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 28, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill Wright, one of the first home builders in Pembroke Pines. Charlotte was the original owner of Charlene’s Bridal Salon in Hollywood, FL. She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn, Justine and Ellen; her three sons-in-law, Sam Engel, Jr., Keith Powell, D.V.M. and Arturo Lopez; her five grandchildren: Alison Brantley, Susan Tillman, John Powell, Mark Engel, and Art Lopez; and her five great-grandchildren: Curtis Brantley, Kyle and Erin Engel and Jackson and Delaney Powell.
