Man Shoplifted From Walmart, Tried To Run From Cops: Naugatuck PD

The accused was initially held in lieu of bond.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A New Britain man is accused of stealing items from Walmart and then he tried to flee on foot from police officers, police said.

At 9:44 p.m. on Sept. 16, officers responded to Walmart for a larceny complaint. Upon the officers’ arrival Bobby J. Smith, 45, of West Main Street, drove from the parking lot, police said. The officer located the vehicle on Candee Road, where the accused exited the vehicle and ran from the vehicle, police said.

The accused was located and taken into custody. He is charged with fourth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny. He was initially held in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
