Youth questioned in abuse case found dead

Neighbour of sisters who were dead

A 25-year-old youth who was interrogated by the police in connection with the sexual abuse and death of two girls from Attappallam, near Walayar, was found dead inside his house on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as C. Praveen, a neighbour of the dead sisters. He was questioned thrice by the police.

The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.

The girls were found dead in a span of 52 days beginning January 12. Five people have already been arrested in connection with the deaths and all have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Prevention of Atrocities on Scheduled Castes Act.
