HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - The seventh ranked Central Heights Blue Devils picked up an opening 11-1 playoff win Wednesday night against the Kountze Lions.

The win gives them a 1-0 series lead over the Lions and it was also a career milestone for head coach Travis Jackson who picked up his 300th win.

“The biggest deal was the playoffs,” Jackson said. “300 comes with the longevity of coaching but the biggest win is the first win of the playoffs. We started off slow but I am happy with what we did."

The team came alive in the sixth inning with six runs. Rowan Arrant was credited with the victory for Central Heights Blue Devils Varsity. He went six innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 11.

Jackson has been coaching for 15 yers with the past three at Central Heights.

“I have coached at four schools,” Jackson said. “All the credit goes to the kids and the teams. All I do is the game plan and put them in the best situations to get the wins. You hope the players execute. This is 15 year as a coach and I hope to be able to get 300 more before I retire."

Central Heights will look to close out the series on Friday in Jasper.
