$10M Bail Set For Man Charged In Fatal Bar Shooting

A 40-year-old man was arrested in ZIon in connection with the Mississippi bar shooting. He was wanted on a warrant for a murder charge.

LAKE COUNTY, IL -- A 40-year-old Mississippi man wanted in connection with a fatal bar shooting in his home state was arrested in Zion on Tuesday and is being held on a $10 million bail. Deshaude Jones, of the 2300 block of Westbrook Street in Ocean Springs, Mississipi, was taken into custody in an apartment in Zion. The search for Jones began after the U.S. Marshals Service-Gulf Coast Regional Task Force alerted local authorities to the fact that Jones could be staying in the area of the 2200 Block of Ezekiel Avenue in Zion, according to a Lake County Sheriff's Office press release.

While the U.S. Marshals Service-Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force was surveying the area, they gathered more information as to Jones' exact whereabouts, according to the news release

With help from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team, the Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force and the Zion Police Department, Jones was taken into custody without incident in a second-floor apartment, police said.

Gang Task Force Detectives recovered two firearms from the residence where Jones, a known gang member, was arrested, according to authorities.

Jones is the second person arrested in connection with the fatal shooting that occurred in the parking lot behind a bar in Ocean Springs, Miss., during the early morning hours of Sept. 15, according to the Sun Herald newspaper. Troy Taylor, 25, of Ocean Springs, was fatally shot in the parking lot. Malainda Marie Tennor has also been arrested and charged with murder in connection with Taylor's death .

Jones was transported to the Lake County Jail. He is being held on a $10 million bail as he awaits extradition to Mississippi.

He is next expected in court on Oct. 2.
