Murray Gershenz, who was most famous for his role as the elderly Felix in “The Hangover,” died of a heart attack August 28 in Hollywood. He was 91.
After starting his acting career at the age of 80, Gershenz appeared in TV shows including “Parks and Recreation,” “Mad Men,” “Modern Family” and “Raising Hope.”
Before getting into acting, the former opera singer and synagogue cantor was a noted record collector, running the Los Angeles record store Music Man Murray for more than 50 years, originally at Santa Monica and Western and most recently in the West Adams neighborhood. He had been seeking a buyer for his collection of more than 300,000 albums, but it remains for sale. Gershenz was the subject of a documentary about his record collection, “Music Man Murray,” that aired on the Documentary Channel.
He also appeared on “The Sarah Silverman Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Tonight Show.” His film appearances included “I Love You Man” and “The Amazing Burt Wonderstone.”

Gershenz remained in good health until his sudden death and was recently working on the series “Sullivan & Son.”
He is survived by two sons, a daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
