CHINA GROVE, NC (WBTV) - Traffic was backed up along I-85 N for over nine hours after an overnight crash led to a closure of the highway.

A crash that occurred around 2:15 A.M. at Exit 68 in China Grove involving an overturned tractor trailer caused Highway Patrol to shut down the roadway just after 8:00 a.m.

NC DOT was called in for assistance in redirecting vehicles at Exit 63 but vehicles stuck behind or in-between these exits were unable to move for hours and some cars were reported as being abandoned.

The crash was cleared at 11:45 a.m. and the road was officially reopened shortly after.
