WE Fest security reinforced by police

Thousands of people and over a dozen artists joined together for WE Fest in Detroit Lakes.

Along with the staff of WE Fest, police, highway patrol, and volunteers teamed up to host an event attracting people from across the United States.

With large numbers of people comes the responsibility to keep them safe.

Sheriff Todd Glander says it takes an army of people to prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

"If we're not on duty in the county, we're on duty here,” Sheriff Glander said. “Everybody is working including our part-time unit, and we also bring in extra help for traffic duty."

Sheriff Glander says he thinks the event went quite well as they extensively patrolled the grounds.

They were in the area from Wednesday morning until Sunday trying to keep everyone safe.

New policies on bags, keeping the roads in the area down to one lane and patrolling of the roads were extra precautions taken this year.

Sheriff Glander says 57 people have been booked into the jail since August 1.

While these numbers are not all from WE Fest, he says this number is particularly high.

Numbers on exactly how many arrests were made at WE Fest are being looked into.
