Titusville Police K9 Team Wins First Place Trophy At Inaugural Space Coast Police K9 Competition

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department’s K9 Team competed in the Inaugural Space Coast Police K9 Competition and took home a first place trophy.
The competition was hosted by the Cocoa Police Department and nearly 30 Law Enforcement K9 teams from across Florida competed in multiple events.
Titusville Police Department was represented by K9 Officer John Cantalupo and “Jack”, K9 Officer Jason Sanchez and “Scooby”, K9 Officer Tyler Glenn and “Chase”, who topped the field of competitors by winning the “hardest hitting” event, and K9 Officer Jesse Lengefeld and “Draco”!
The myriad of skills, demonstrated in this competition by our highly trained K9 unit, are an invaluable resource for crime prevention and crime solving. These officers and canines are an integral part of maintaining the safety of the community of Titusville.
Titusville’s Dual-Purpose police canines are certified for narcotics detection, as well as certified for patrol, such as criminal apprehension, handler protection, area search, building search and tracking.
“These officers spend hundreds of hours a year training with their canines to perfect these skills and the hard work is evident,” said Lieutenant TJ Wright, K9 Unit Supervisor.
