Don't delay - organizers need time to gather enough toys. Here's how you sign-up.

ALAMEDA, CA — Thanksgiving is this week and Christmas will be here before you know it. If your family is struggling to make ends meet, now is the time to ask for help getting presents under the tree.

The place to seek help here in Alameda is the Alameda Food Bank. Even if you are not a client of the Food Bank, you can ask to have your kids signed up to receive toys. Presents will be given to children up to age 12, while gift cards will be handed out to children 13-17.

While you're at the Alameda Food Bank, you can see if your family is eligible to receive fresh and non-perishable food. A family of three can make up to $5105 per month and still qualify. The typical family receives $500 worth of food each month, freeing up that money for rent, health care, school supplies and other necessities.
