Riverdale, NY – Manhattan begins its quest for its fourth MAAC title in program history on Saturday, February 17 at 12:00 pm when the Jaspers head to Mount St. Mary's. The team then heads further south to play Presbyterian on Monday, February 19 at 1:00 pm.

The 2018 edition of the team features 26 returnees from last year's squad, including 11 players who started at least 12 games. Eight newcomers also join the fold for second-year head coach Katie McConnell.

ATTACK ATTACK!

Eighty-four percent of the Jaspers' offense (in terms of points) returns from a season ago. Junior forward Molly Fitzpatrick leads the pack with 39 goals and 53 points in 2017. Senior captains Sarah Lang and Kara Hodapp round out last season's 20-goal scorers.

THE SOPHOMORE JUMP

Manhattan's two 2017 All-MAAC Rookie Team honorees Emily Sandford and Hailey Siemek look to build upon their impressive rookie seasons in their second year. Sandford registered 21 points last year while Siemek made 16 starts and recorded a team-high 19 caused turnovers.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

Eight freshman enter the mix for the 2018 season. Four states represent the group, including four form the State of New York.

LOGGING MILEAGE

The Jaspers will travel almost 2,000 miles away from campus this season. Half of that total comes on this road trip. Mount St. Mary's is approximately 236 miles away from Manhattan College, while Presbyterian is 755 miles out. The latter road trip is Manhattan's farthest opponent in mileage this season.

In the all-time series, the Mountaineers are 11-0 against Manhattan; six of those wins have occurred in Emmitsburg. The Jaspers fell 8-7 in overtime in the last matchup against Mount St. Mary's on March 12, 2016.

SCOUTING THE BLUE HOSE

Presbyterian is 0-1 on the season after falling 16-4 to Furman on Valentine's Day. The Blue Hose are coming off a 2-14 season in which they were 1-6 in Big South action. Three of its four top scorers from last year, including leaders Lauren Schaaf and Cady Roberts, return for 2018.

This will be the first meeting all-time between Manhattan and Presbyterian.
