Dolphins QB Jay Cutler exits game vs. Bucs after sustaining a concussion

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler was knocked out of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering a concussion, and was replaced by Matt Moore.

Cutler, who didn’t play the second half, wasn’t having a good game. He was 6-of-12 passing for 83 yards, three interceptions and one touchdown. The Dolphins trailed Tampa Bay, 20-7, when Cutler left.

It’s unclear when Cutler sustained the hit that forced him into the concussion protocol.

After the game, head coach Adam Gase sidestepped the question when asked whether Cutler would be the starter next week if healthy, saying, “I want to get to tomorrow first, see how he’s feeling.”

Two of the interceptions didn’t seem to be Cutler’s fault.

He had one pass intercepted in the end zone after wide receiver DeVante Parker got his feet tangled with safety Justin Evans.

Cutler’s other interceptions came when he made an errant pass to wide receiver Jarvis Landry that linebacker Kwon Alexander picked off, and when a pass glanced off Parker’s hands and was picked off by cornerback Robert McClain.

Moore threw for 282 yards in the second half, completing 17-of-28 passes. He had one touchdown and finished with a 106.5 passer rating.

It was Moore’s first appearance since starting the 40-0 loss at Baltimore. Cutler missed that game after sustaining a rib injury the week before against the New York Jets.

Right guard Jermon Bushrod also left the game and did not return with what appeared to be a left foot or ankle injury.

With Bushrod out, Jesse Davis moved from right tackle to right guard, and Sam Young played right tackle.
