The development team at ArenaNet announces that it is getting ready to launch the first edition of its Guild Wars 2 International All-Stars Tournament during the upcoming Gamescome 2014 trade event in Cologne, Germany, with a wide range of players from North America, Europe and China set to battle in a complex Player versus Player competition.

The entire tournament will take place from August 14 to 17, and the company is partnering with Twitch in order to stream all the matches and give fans a chance to see how the best gamers in the world play.

Jason Fletcher, the events manager for the EMEA region at Twitch, states, “When it comes to competitive gaming, Twitch has established itself as the premiere destination for the industry’s most premium content. With ArenaNet using our platform and gamescom booth to broadcast their Guild Wars 2 event, it’s another example of how strong the esports content and community is on Twitch.”

Guild Wars 2 players in both North America and in Europe can now vote on the players they would like to see taking part in the Gamescom 2014 tournament, while Chinese players will be chosen via a series of weekly tournaments by partner company KongZhong.

The official site offers more details about the candidates, including their official biographies, and players of the MMO can also get access to more info about the process itself, which will end on July 17 at 11:59 Pacific Daylight Time.

ArenaNet says that an official list of those who will take part in the Guild Wars 2 International All-Stars Tournament at Gamescome 2014 will be announced at a later time, alongside a list of the prizes they can earn.

At the moment, normal gamers can take part in the second season of the Living World content for the MMO, which introduces an all new storyline that will affect its universe in interesting and meaningful ways.

The team at ArenaNet is focused on delivering more content for its fans in the long term, in order to make sure that they always have something new to experience, while also delivering updates that offer better balance to Guild Wars 2.

The game does not require a monthly subscription and gamers only need to pick up the core retail package in order to start playing.

ArenaNet has also suggested that it has plans for a major first expansion for the MMO, which will be revealed later in the year.
