John Brown retired as an Inside Machinist Specialist Journeyman from General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton after 26 years of service.

John P. Brown departed this life peacefully at home in New London on Sept. 26, 2015, with his loving wife and daughter at his side.

He was born on September 21, 1941 in Hermanville, MS. He is the son of Marie Banks Brown and Maxie Brown, Sr..

Brown retired as an Inside Machinist Specialist Journeyman from General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton after 26 years of service.

Brown leaves to cherish his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Lee Ward Brown; five loving and devoted children; stepson Albert Clifton White, Jr and his wife Theressa of Charleston, SC; daughters; Ruby Brown and her husband Gjergi Mani, and Bonita and Juanita in Jersey City, NJ and Nicole in Los Angeles, CA.

He leaves five loving and devoted sisters and brothers, Lula Williams of Old Lyme, Viola Moore and husband Freddie and Johnny Brown both of Hermanville, MS, Bob Earl and wife Ruby of Longview, TX, and Shadeed Islam of Hartford. He leaves a host of loving and caring relatives including grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, John leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church of Waterford, 105 Rope Ferry Rd., Waterford, CT 06385. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London, CT 06320.
