Memorial service announced for Central Dauphin football player killed in crash

Visitation and funeral services have been announced for a Central Dauphin High School student who was killed in a motorcycle crash.

A visitation service for Harrison F. Fenstemaker 17, of Harrisburg, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, 6011 Linglestown Road, Lower Paxton Township.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Online condolences can be left on the funeral home's website.

Fenstemaker was killed in the crash Saturday evening when police said Richard Lee Via, 63, of Jonestown, was driving along Mountain Road in East Hanover Township when he crossed over the double yellow line and hit Fenstemaker, who was riding a motorcycle. Police said Via was detained at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The CD senior, an offensive lineman for the school's football team, was wearing a helmet, police said, but was separated from his motorcycle in the crash and suffered fatal injuries.

In Fenstemaker's obituary, he is remembered as "a free spirit and an old soul" who loved spending time with family and friends, as well as fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed being in the pit crew for his father when they went racing together, and being doted on by his mom.

"He was a young man with strong convictions and a deep respect for those who serve(d) their country and community," Fenstemaker's obituary read. "Harrison was strong of body and mind. He touched the lives of everyone around him. Harrison will be forever remembered and truly missed."
