Sept. 17-18: Ben Frost and Tim Hecker offer their rock- and ambient-flavored works at Minneapolis’ Southern Theater.

Oct. 8-9: VocalEssence performs “March King” John Philip Sousa’s comic opera “El Capitan” at Ted Mann Concert Hall.

Oct. 10: Pianist Kemal Gekic presents an all-Chopin recital at Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center.

Oct. 15-16: The SPCO spends five concerts (including two Saturday-morning family concerts) exploring Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Astor Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires” at the Ordway.

Oct. 30: Conductor Sarah Hicks and the Minnesota Orchestra perform Bernard Herrmann’s chilling score to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” while the film is screened above them at Orchestra Hall.

Nov. 16: Nashville-based chamber ensemble Alias joins composer Gabriela Lena Frank for a concert of her music at the SPCO Center.

Nov. 18-19: Violinist Pekka Kuusisto performs Bach and music from his native Finland with the SPCO in Apple Valley and Eden Prairie.

Nov. 19: English pianist and BBC host Piers Lane performs Chopin and talks about him to open the St. Croix Concert Series season at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater.

Nov. 21: One of America’s top woodwind quintets, the Imani Winds, performs at St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ.

Nov. 26-28: English baroque master Laurence Cummings is harpsichordist and conductor for three SPCO Neighborhoods Series concerts.
