Eight defendants are facing federal charges on allegations they spent three years conspiring to deliver marijuana, in some instances more than 200 pounds at a time, and laundering money.

According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice, four of the defendants — Charles Zachariah Sindylek, 31, of Pensacola; Brandon Craig Remeyer, 34, of Mission Viejo, California; Sanford Eugene Johnson III, 31, of Pensacola; and William Brett Brownell, 26, of Milton — were responsible for charges involving more than 100 kilograms, about 220 pounds, in the conspiracy.

The indictment alleges that between 2014 and 2017, those four defendants as well as four others — William Ezra Brownell, 60, of Mobile, Alabama; David Delgiacco, 55, of Lake Forest, California; Andrew Paul Marcelonis, 31, of Pensacola; and Steven Ryan Michael Sholly, 30, of Pensacola — conspired to distribute and possessed with intent to distribute marijuana. Seven of the eight, all but Sholly, are also accused of laundering money by transferring cash proceeds from the drug trafficking conspiracy through financial institutions.
