The Texas Tech men's basketball team will have a different look next season.

Darryl Dora, a graduate assistant for the past three seasons, accepted a position with Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee.

"I will never be able to say enough good things about Lubbock, TX and Texas Tech University," Dora wrote in a note posted to Twitter on Tuesday. "This is a place that changed my life. The people in Lubbock, the support this community has given me, will always hold a special spot in my heart and will forever be a part of my story."

The former Red Raider standout, who helped lead the program to a Sweet 16 appearance back in 2015, was key in preparing the post players among others each day and game night. He also helped shout out instructions from the bench during games.

"My job is just to instill confidence in them everyday," Dora said back on March 30.

The 6-foot-9 post etched his named into Red Raider lore by netting a game-winning, three-point shot to beat then No. 2 Kansas 80-79 in double overtime in 2005 — earning the nickname "Kansas Killer."

Alan Bowman is officially part of award-watch list season.

The sophomore, who was named to the Maxwell Award a day prior, was picked as a preseason candidate Tuesday for the Davey O'Brien Award given out to the nation's top quarterback.

The Grapevine native is one of 30 signal callers — including one of four from the Big 12: Charlie Brewer (Baylor), Sam Ehlinger (Texas), Brock Purdy (Iowa State) — named to the preseason watch list, which was chosen based on player performance during the 2018 season as well as taking into account 2019 expectations.

Bowman was also one of six sophomores on the list. He threw for 2,638 yards and 17 touchdowns in eight games due to a collapsed lung that caused him to miss four games and the second halves of two others.

In his first season, Bowman snapped both the Big 12 and Texas Tech freshman records for single-game passing following a 605-yard performance against Houston last season. He became the third freshman in NCAA history to throw for at least 600 yards in a game, joining David Neill (Nevada) and Luke Falk (Washington State).

The Lady Chaparrals will add seven new faces, six true freshmen and a junior college transfer, as part of their Class of 2019.

Ranger College's Hanna Brink will join freshman Sage Chain (Clemens High School, Schertz, Texas), Hailey Cournoyer (Hallettsville HS), Katy Giusti (Clear Falls HS, League City, Texas), Mady McCully (Shallowater), Kaylee Waddle (Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries) and Sloan Williams (Dumas HS).

Of the group, Brink will transfer following her sophomore season as a middle hitter in which she finished with 233 kills and a team-leading 188 blocks. Chain, a fellow middle blocker, recorded 110 kills and 73 total blocks during her senior campaign in which Clemens claimed a 37-7 overall mark and advanced to the second round of the UIL playoffs.

Cournoyer accumulated 700 kills and 250 blocks over three varsity seasons as a middle blocker for Hallettsville. As a senior, she garnered All-District and Victoria Advocate All-Area Team honors. Switching to outside hitter, Giusti notched 473 kills and 377 digs as a senior senior which ended with a berth to the UIL 6A regional quarterfinal round.

McCully, who has family ties to LCU, started off at Frenship High School before transferring to Shallowater for the rest of her athletic career. The defensive specialist finished with 586 assists, 334 digs, 117 kills and 89 aces on the way to second team honors on the Lone Star Varsity Super Team.

Waddle, a libero, was homeschooled and earned NCHVC 2015-2018 All-Tournament and NCHVC Defensiver Player of the Year honors in 2018. Williams, an outside hitter, secured all-district honors three times. The District 4-4A MVP as a senior was also the team captain and helped Dumas advance to the Class 4A regional quarterfinal round.
