How to Make Peppa Pig-Inspired Cupcakes (Because Craft Projects Are Better When They Double as Dessert)

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces vanilla buttercream frosting

  • 6-8 drops pink food coloring (or 3-4 drops of red food coloring)

  • 18 baked cupcakes, cooled (any flavor)

  • 9 Nutter Butters or oblong cookies/wafers

  • 18 mini marshmallows

  • 36 candy eyes

  • 18 red M&Ms or candy-coated chocolates

  • Red gel frosting

Directions:

  1. Add food coloring to buttercream frosting a few drops at a time, stirring between each addition, until it’s pale pink. Cover the cupcakes with an even layer of frosting.

  2. Twist apart a Nutter Butter cookie, or slice the wafer in half lengthwise. (This makes it thinner and less heavy on top of the cupcake, so it’s less likely to fall off.) Gently press it onto the frosting, with about 1/3 of the cookie protruding to the right of the cupcake. Cover the cookie/wafer with more pink frosting.

  3. Tear a mini marshmallow in half. Press them into the frosting at the top of the cupcake, just above the snout, to form the ears. Cover with pink frosting.

  4. Press two candy eyes into the frosting, just below the ears. Add a red M&M for the cheek, then draw the snout and smile with red gel frosting.
