Central Texas Food Bank cancels weekend distributions

The Central Texas Food Bank has canceled its food distributions through this weekend due to bad weather and hazardous road conditions.

Cancellations include the mass distribution event that was scheduled for Saturday in Kyle and a food pantry event Saturday in Fredericksburg.

Austin offices close for Presidents Day

The city of Austin will close offices and facilities for President’s Day on Monday.

All Austin Resource Recovery trash, recycling and compost collections will be unaffected for the Presidents’ Day holiday, although routes may be delayed due to winter weather. For up-to-date information, visit austintexas.gov/myschedule.

All Austin Public Health COVID-19 testing sites except the Pflugerville location, 103 N. Railroad Ave., will be closed Monday. To schedule a COVID-19 test through the Austin Public Health Department: austintexas.gov/covid19.

The Parks & Recreation Department s keeping year-round city pools, tennis centers, golf courses and the Zilker Botanical Garden closed. These facilities will remain closed until freezing temperatures subside and allow for operations to resume. For updates, visit austintexas.gov/parkclosures.

The Austin Public Library, Recycled Reads Bookstore, the Austin History Center branches and the Austin Animal Center will be closed Monday.

Hay County Monday vaccine appointments postponed

The Hays County Local Health Department and Hays County office of emergency services announced that second-dose appointments scheduled for Monday have been moved to Wednesday due to anticipated severe weather.

Those with a scheduled second dose appointment for Monday at San Marcos High School will receive an email. Appointments will be at the same time as they would have been Monday.

Those who received their first dose at San Marcos High are on the list to receive the second dose Wednesday at that location, regardless of receiving an email. All Monday appointments have been automatically switched.

Buda seeks feedback on waste services

The city of Buda is seeking feedback on its solid waste services. Services include trash, recycling, green waste and bulk pick-up.
