Police ID Woman Killed In South Austin Car Wreck

AUSTIN, TX β€” Police on Thursday identified a woman killed in South Austin car crash in November.

The incident dates to Nov. 7 shortly after 3 a.m. at South 1st Street and Annie Street, according to a police advisory. An investigation found that a gray 2021 Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on 1st Street while a Dodge Ram was proceeding westbound on Annie Street.

"It is unknown which vehicle ran the red light, but the traffic violation caused a collision between the trucks," police wrote in their report. "After the impact with the Tundra, the Dodge Ram struck a rock wall causing the truck to roll. The Dodge Ram truck came to rest on its roof."

Occupants in both vehicles were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, police said. One of the passengers in the Dodge Ram, Linda Cadena, 58, was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries on Nov. 20, police said.

The incident marked the 77th fatal traffic crash of 2020 in Austin, police said, resulting in 82 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 76 traffic fatalities.
