Funeral Services For Peter White Scheduled Today

Peter Webster White, 83, the father of attorney Pete White, who is chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party and a former Oklahoma City council member, died Sunday morning at Baptist Medical Center.

Services for Peter White of Bartlesville will be at 1:30 p.m. today in the Memorial Chapel at Hackler-Porter Funeral Home in Blackwell.

Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery in Nardin.

White was born Aug. 28, 1905, in Enid, Oklahoma Territory, the son of Peter and Julia White. He was raised in Enid and moved to Blackwell in 1923, where he worked for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad.

In 1936, he married Flotella Sawyer. In 1941 White was transferred to Oklahoma City. His wife died in 1964 and the following year he married Jodie Christopher.

He worked for the railroad 46 years, retiring in 1970. He moved back to Blackwell in 1984.

He was a member of the Draper Park Christian Church and the Myrtle Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, sons Pete White and Mike Ellis White, and daughter Mary Nell Whittington, all of Oklahoma City, and a stepson, Robert Timanus of San Diego. Also surviving are two sisters, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials in his name be made either to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or to the Christ Campus House at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. BIOG: PETER WEBSTER WHITE, PETER WHITE NAME:
