South Carolina mother Joann Johnson experienced every parent's nightmare in an unimaginably traumatic fashion, when she found out that her son had been shot dead via A&E's real-time police show Live PD. Johnson told WLTX19 that she recognized her 37-year-old son Benjamin's body during last Friday's broadcast of Live PD, which depicted the aftermath of his shooting in Richland County, South Carolina.

""The way they showed it on TV, that's wrong," Johnson said during her emotional TV interview with the local news station. "For a parent to find out about their child... You don't do that." Friday's broadcast showed officers from the Richland County Sheriff's Department arriving at the house which Joann and Benjamin shared, and discovering his body on the front lawn. Benjamin Johnson was killed by a gunshot wound to the torso, and his killer remains at large.

Since its launch last fall, Live PD has chronicled law enforcement as it happens in real time, playing outlive footage of policing in several of the nation's busiest forces.
