Altus AFB releases identity of airman found dead on base
LAWTON, OK (RNN Texoma) - Altus Air Force Base has released the name of an airman who died on base earlier this week.
On Monday, authorities were called to a home on base after receiving reports of a death in the home. When they arrived they found Staff Sergeant Robert A. Alvarez dead. Alvarez was a member of the 58th Airlift Squadrom.
Colonel Eric Carney, 97th Air Mobility Wing Commander, released a statement about the death on Wednesday.
“Robert served as a loadmaster with the 58th Airlift Squadron and he will be missed,” said Col. Carney. “It burdens me to lose any member of the 97th Family. Every member is an essential part of our 97 AMW team. Please join me in conveying our deepest condolences to his family, friends, the 58th Airlift Squadron and all who were close to him.”
The incident is currently under investigation.
