Rainn Wilson Comments On The Office Reboot

Bringing back shows that have ended is the latest trend in Hollywood, and in case you haven’t heard, a revival of The Office is supposedly in development over at NBC. Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute on the show for nine seasons, recently spoke with CinemaBlend and gave his input on the show coming back:

“It was all over the internet, and it was all over Twitter and stuff like that. And NBC even released a statement about it. But I don’t even know if any contacts have been made, or offers, or anything like that. Our show-runner Greg Daniels is busy on another show, Jenna’s on another show, John’s on another show. Everyone on The Office is working. Steve is a gigantic movie star.”

While many of the core actors have moved on to other projects, Wilson remains optimistic that if everything lined up right, there could be an opportunity to do this:

“I think everyone feels the same way. If the timing is right, if the idea is right then we’d love to do something. I don’t wanna go do new Office episodes. Kinda like on Will & Grace, they’re just doing the show again. I don’t really have a desire to do that. But if there was some fun little arc where we get to revisit our characters in a given time, that could be a lot of fun.”

While the original British version of The Office was a great show in its own right, the American version stands as what is likely the best American remake (there have been some awful remakes, The IT Crowd comes to mind) of a British television show, and in my opinion one of the best sitcoms of all time.
