Los Angeles Anti-Gun Violence Protest Draws Hundreds (Video)

The crowd broke out into chants of "U.S.A. not N.R.A!"

LOS ANGELES, CA – Several hundred people are reportedly protesting gun violence in downtown Los Angeles less than a week after a gunman massacred 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida. The protest, titled the "People's Rally Against Gun Violence," was organized by activists from the groups Drain The NRA and Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America.

Speakers asked participants at the rally to commit to the cause. The protest started at 11 a.m. Monday and runs until 1 p.m.

Demonstrators also held signs that read "We call BS!" and "Kids before AKs," referring to the AK-47 assault rifle. Other signs said "You messed with the wrong mom," "Drain the NRA!" and "Gun Control Now."

According to CNN, a group of women organized the protest who organized in a living room following the mass shooting last year at a concert in Las Vegas.

"Join us! Join us moms, dads aunts, uncles, teachers, students as we take on the gun lobby," one speaker said to applause.
