LinkedIn Top Voices in Job Search & Careers: The 10 creators to follow in the U.S. and Canada

The 2022 LinkedIn Top Voices in Job Search and Careers highlights 10 thought leaders sharing insights and advice to help job seekers and career builders get ahead.

People are reassessing their relationship with work now more than ever before, leading many to change jobs, switch industries or find new ways to grow in their current roles. Navigating these career-shaping moves can be challenging. As professionals seek out their #NextPlay, they’re looking for advice on how to get there.

Today, LinkedIn News is debuting our Top Voices in Job Search and Careers. These 10 thought leaders are sharing insights and advice relevant to those actively on the job hunt, as well as those who are just looking for ways to grow their career. Austin Belcak, for example, knows how to land offers without traditional experience — or ever applying online. Emily Liou, a career coach and job search consultant, is helping people find fulfillment in their professional lives. And Mia Williams is guiding young women of color through their careers. While this is our newest Top Voices list, it joins a family of features highlighting creators in areas ranging from sports to health care. All Top Voices lists are editorially curated by the LinkedIn News team and highlight creators to follow who are writing and sharing about today’s important workplace, career and industry topics. What she talks about: Miller, a professional recruiter with over 20 years of experience, is known for busting job search myths. She covers all things relevant to the job hunt — from resume tips to networking advice. Miller teaches job seekers how to master elevator pitches, juggle offer deadlines and navigate contract roles. She also isn’t afraid to call out recruiting red flags to guide candidates through the hiring process. 

Amy’s top piece of advice: “Focus on QUALITY over QUANTITY. By breaking down your search efforts into manageable lists of target roles, companies and employees to network with, you can deliver more personalized resumes/messages — increasing your likelihood of success!”

What he talks about: Belcak is highlighting why unconventional strategies can help some professionals land their next job. Instead of allowing lack of experience to deter job seekers from applying to their dream roles, he helps them become standout candidates. Belcak often shares his personal job search experiences, showing how he went from receiving hundreds of rejections to landing offers at major tech companies. 

Austin’s top piece of advice: “If you want to land a job in today’s market, you need to shift your energy away from online applications and focus on two things: earning referrals from people who can influence your ability to get hired and finding ways to make your value so clear that companies can’t ignore it.”

What she talks about: Chan, a former recruiter turned executive career coach, helps people establish their personal brands and ace job interviews. From professionals who are looking to advance to those strategizing how to pivot, she’s empowering job seekers to excel in the next stage of their careers. Chan often goes live on LinkedIn with her show Dare to Differentiate, where she fields job search questions and provides actionable advice. 

Diana’s top piece of advice: “Advance your career/ job search by differentiating as top talent, building a strong personal brand and network. This will increase your marketability, credibility, and visibility to attract great opportunities.”

What she talks about: As a career coach and job search consultant, Liou has a simple mission: help professionals find happiness in their careers. For job seekers trying to stay motivated during their search, she talks about embracing change, fighting imposter syndrome and bouncing back from rejection. Liou often shares short videos that show any career transition is possible when stepping out of your comfort zone. She also posts job search hacks to help candidates stand out among piles of resumes.

Emily’s top piece of advice: “If you find yourself unsatisfied in your career, remember that the tiniest of actions can create a big shift towards an exciting new career path. Focus on your WHY and just begin; you are creating your future in this present moment.”

What she talks about: Escalera’s goal as a career coach is to help women of color stand out among job seekers and succeed in their careers. She teaches them what not to do in an interview and helps them bring their value to salary negotiations. Escalera often posts about her own personal career experiences, like how she quit multiple jobs to pursue her passion and, eventually, become her own boss. 

Jasmine’s top piece of advice: “Always keep a strong focus on your career growth, development and next step. Stay ready, so you never have to get ready.”

What they talk about: Kibben works on the employer side of the job search, leading a team of copywriters who specialize in writing for recruiting and HR teams. Kibben’s team helps companies craft job postings by writing through the candidate’s lens and developing “an authentic recruiting voice.” They talk about everything from the remote work evolution and embracing the digital nomad life to the importance of allyship and overcoming self-doubt. 

Katrina’s top piece of advice: “Your LinkedIn headline makes an important first impression. Make sure it's simple, searchable and specific enough to help any recruiter looking at your profile understand what your next best job is.”

What she talks about: Williams, the chief executive of The Colors of Her Success, helps young women of color navigate their careers. She offers resume and cover letter tips, including the dos and dont’s of formatting, and shares advice on tackling tough interview questions. In addition, Williams posts about her career journey to help other professionals, like how she landed a job when she lacked experience. 

Mia’s top piece of advice: “When it comes to securing that seat at the table, show up with unwavering confidence — no matter what. The more you believe in yourself and your ability, the more doors will open for you.”

What he talks about: Bentsi-Enchill, a holistic career coach, helps people bring their whole selves to the job search, knowing that a career is only one part of a person’s life. He shares advice on protecting mental health as a job seeker, including how to turn a deficit mindset into a positive one. Bentsi-Enchill answers job seekers’ questions live on LinkedIn and interviews guests on topics such as navigating career growth as a first-generation professional.

Nii Ato’s top piece of advice: "Your job search starts with YOU, not with a job title. Take the time to do the necessary inner work to clarify your values, priorities, & non-negotiables, to produce the external results that you desire."

What she talks about: Barnett-Pierce aims to help people build equity in their careers, whether they’re breaking into a new industry or looking to grow in their current roles. She teaches job seekers everything they need to know about salary negotiations, including common mistakes to avoid. Barnett-Pierce also shares content on how to utilize video while job searching and how to optimize your LinkedIn profile to get noticed by recruiters. 

Rhona’s top piece of advice: “The job search is as much about finding a company that's the right fit for YOU as it is about convincing a company that you're the right fit for them. The key to career happiness is getting crystal clear on what you're looking for and evaluating every interaction (during and after the job search) against that criteria.”

What he talks about: As a career educator, Kim focuses a lot of his attention on supporting college-age students by offering mentorship opportunities, embedding career development into curriculums and more. In addition to posting resources for students, Kim also shares advice to help guide professionals through their careers, whether they’re a job seeker struggling to establish boundaries or a new hire navigating workplace relationships. 

Rob’s top piece of advice: “The Korean word ‘jeong’ (정/情) roughly refers to a collective societal attachment, but each Korean person would have a slightly different interpretation based on their unique experiences and lived trauma. For your own career, take the time to explicitly reflect on your accomplishments and failures — as only you can translate and define your career ‘jeong,’ and in doing so, bring clarity to what you hope to contribute to the collective societal world of work.”

How we compile the list

Top Voices is a series of lists that have been editorially curated by the LinkedIn News team, with the goal of highlighting creators to follow who are covering the chosen segments and/or topics. To compile each list, editors consider each individual’s content on LinkedIn. Specifically: Are they covering the topic at hand on a regular basis? Are their contributions insightful, conversational and timely? Have they built up and engaged with their communities? Do they seek to give and get help vs. being self-promotional? We aim to highlight a diverse set of voices, so that the list reflects the world we live and work in today. 

Who is eligible

Any LinkedIn member who shares content and drives professional conversations on the platform is eligible to be a Top Voice, with the exception of LinkedIn and Microsoft employees, members who have violated LinkedIn’s User Agreement, including our Professional Community Policies, or individuals currently running in an election for an executive, legislative or judicial position.

Creators who were previously named a Top Voice for Job Search & Careers were not included in this year's list. Top Voices may include individuals who are a part of the LinkedIn Influencer (invite-only) or the Creator Accelerator (application-based) programs. However, being a part of either does not automatically boost a member’s chance of being a Top Voice, nor is it a requirement or prerequisite for success on the platform.
