Trump mocks Democrats’ talk of impeachment, blames them for conspiracy

President Trump responded to talk of impeachment by Democrats on Sunday by claiming the opposition party is guilty of high crimes — not him.

Trump dismissed the prospect of impeachment proceedings on Capitol Hill by continuing to insist that the opposition party has launched a vast conspiracy to undermine his administration.

“How do you impeach a Republican President for a crime that was committed by the Democrats?” Trump tweeted on Sunday evening. “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump made the comment after Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and others appeared on Sunday news programs and spoke about the possibility of impeachment hearings.

“That’s going to be a very consequential decision and one that I’m going to reserve judgment on until we have a chance to deliberate about it,” Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told “Fox News Sunday.”

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he was framed by Democrats after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Among the president’s claims is that a cabal of Democrats conspired to spark an investigation that landed some of his closest advisers in jail.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump blamed the “other side” for illegally creating a “diversionary & criminal event” to derail his presidency.

Mueller’s report concluded that although there were many contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, it did not meet the proper statutes to warrant a federal conspiracy charge.

However, the report did not exonerate Trump on the matter of obstruction of justice.
