Danville was one of the area's hit the hardest with snow Wednesday and now crews are working hard to clear the roads.

The main roads, and connectors are clear. Crews have been working all day Thursday on the residential areas.

"Plowing while we can and adding sand while we can for traction," says Public Works Director of Street Maintenance, Steve Bohannon.

Public works crews faced some problems overnight when the temperature got down into the single digits.

"It pushed really well up until say, midnight, then after midnight it just locked down and you can't move it," says Bohannon.

Luckily, the sun melted some of the snow, but if it doesn't dry, people may have problems on their morning commute.

"Snow pushed on each side of the road. That snow is melting right now. It's going to run across the road tonight and you're going to have patches of black ice and you're not going to know it's there until you get into it," says Bohannon.

Crews say there is still work to be done, and may still be working to get to all residential areas through Friday.

"Be patient. We're doing the best we can. We're going to try to get to you and get you dug out as quick as we can," says Bohannon.

The Public Works Department has had crews working around the clock since Tuesday morning when they were preparing for the storm, and now trying to get rid of all this snow.

They're really working hard out here to make sure everyone stays safe and can get to where they need to be.
