Armed Suspect At Large After Rose Hill Bank Robbery

Police continue to seek the suspect in the armed bank robbery at Burke & Herbert Bank.

ROSE HILL, VA—A search is underway for a suspect after a bank robbery in Rose Hill Monday morning, Fairfax County Police say.

The robbery happened after 9 a.m. at the Burke & Herbert Bank, 5519 Franconia Road. Police say the armed suspect held a gun and demanded money. He fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.

The suspect was last seen running down Franconia Road. Police launched a manhunt with assistance from Alexandria Police.

The suspect was described as a black man, around 6 foot and 180 pounds. He was wearing an orange construction helmet, baseball cap with a dark colored bill, dark colored hoodie under a grey or olive green jacket, an off-white colored dust mask, black sunglasses, grey sweat pants and brown/tan hiking boots with black soles.

The bank is close to Edison High School. Officials said in an email notification the school was temporarily under "secure the building" status.
