SYCAMORE — Two intoxicated men were found jumping from the roof of a downtown building into a nearby tree early Sunday as part of a dare.

Sycamore police responded at 2:31 a.m. to the 100 block of South California Street.

Witnesses told officers that Troy D. Novey, 36, and Jacob E. Haka, 25, both of Sycamore, jumped from the building to the tree and injured themselves while also damaging the tree.

Novey declined medical attention for his injuries, but Haka was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.

Both men face charges for criminal trespass and criminal damage to property. They were taken to jail and released on bond.
