Having promised they would announce a European stadium tour back in May, the heavy metal titans have stayed true to their word confirming 25 shows in 20 countries across the summer.

A dozen of the cities were not previously visited on the 2017-2018 legs of the European WorldWired Tour including Milan, Zürich, Dublin, Brussels (their first gig there in three decades), Berlin, Moscow, Warsaw, Bucharest and Gothenburg plus they’re playing Trondheim Norway, Hämeenlinna in Finland and Tartu in Estonia for the very first time.

The Manchester Etihad Stadium show takes place on Tuesday 18th June with London Twickenham Stadium following on Thursday 20th June. The Dublin date takes place at Slane Castle on Saturday 8th June.

Special guests at all dates of the summer stadium tour comes from enigmatic Swedish metallers Ghost. Opening proceedings will be Lars Ulrich’s favourite new band, Norwegian stoner punk trio Bokassa.

Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Friday 28th September.

As with the vast majority of dates on the WorldWired Tour, each gig ticket comes with a choice of standard physical or standard digital copy of the band’s tenth and current album, ‘Hardwired…To Self-Destruct’, which has spawned anthems ‘Atlas, Rise!’, ‘Moth Into Flame’ and ‘Hardwired’.

On top of this all tickets will include a free MP3 download of the show attended, mixed and mastered by the team behind ‘Hardwired...To Self-Destruct’. The free full-show downloads can be obtained by scanning or entering the barcode from that show’s ticket stub at LiveMetallica.com/scan.

Performing in-the-round at their October 2017 arena shows, Metallica smashed attendance records at all five UK dates.

At the opening show at London’s The O2 on Sunday 22nd October, the metal titans were watched by 22,134 fans making it the best attended single concert performance by one headliner since the venue opened a decade ago.

Two nights later, they broke the record again when they pulled in 22,211 fans at the Greenwich peninsula venue.

Keeping up the ante for the rest of the tour, 13,111 packed into Glasgow’s SSE Hydro to set a new attendance record and 20,048 fans witnessed their Manchester Arena show beating their own venue record they’ve held since 2009 when 19,680 people watched them on the World Magnetic Tour.

Once again at the final night at Birmingham’s Genting Arena on Monday 30th October, Metallica drew in a record-breaking crowd of 15,604 fans.

Metallica will release an expansive and remastered 30th anniversary reissue of ‘… And Justice For All’ on Friday 2nd November via their own imprint Blackened Recordings.
