2-year-old dead after apparent drowning in Boone County pool

A Burlington 2-year-old was pronounced dead Saturday night, after apparently drowning in a pool.

According to

, the young boy had climbed down the ladder of the pool while family members were inside their home. He was reportedly found only minutes later by his grandparents.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office says that two nurses and a firefighter/EMS who lived nearby helped the family perform life-saving measures until emergency crews arrived.

The boy was taken to St. Elizabeth in Florence where he was later pronounced dead.

The drowning remains under investigation. No foul play is suspected.
