A New Fab Foursome
While the chart-topping R&B group New Edition is pondering and planning a reunion tour, four members are teaming up for a new musical experience called RBRM. Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins will drop a parade of hits from various stages of their careers at the Red Rock Resort’s Sandbar pool stage on Sept. 7.
“We move as a crew and we stay together. We don’t do it like, you do your stuff and I’ll do mine. It’s all intertwined,” says Bivins. “It’s a great night moving between each other’s music and it’s what we do, all the high energy and hit records people have grown to love. We’re coming at you like a 12-round boxing match with nothing but blows.”

“My first foray was doing raves and house parties in the cornfields of Iowa. It was called Ravestock in 1996 and there were thousands of people in the middle of nowhere. It was really cool and fun and I just thought, this is what I want to do. This is my calling. That led into other things and I got into the world of promoters and Bill Graham was who I wanted to be. He was the man and I was just infatuated with his career. The first show I did in Fairfield (Iowa) was someone who was an opening act at Woodstock, Richie Havens. That was my first concert, at 21 years old in the old high school auditorium, and it sold out. Barry Manilow has extended his hit show at the Westgate. Tickets are now on sale for shows through February, and the singing and songwriting icon has dates planned through mid-June.
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker dropped into her SJP boutique at Bellagio recently to share some shopping tips and recommendations with her guests, even signing the bottom of a new ly purchased pair of shoes for one shopper. The Sex and the City icon reportedly loves to play personal shopper and after meeting her at the SJP opening last year, I believe it.
The Las Vegas Aces may have narrowly missed the WNBA playoffs in their inaugural season but the team and its owners, MGM Resorts International, constructed a rock-solid foundation for the future. Among the hoops fans taking in the season finale on Aug. 19 were Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis and hip-hop hype man extraordinaire Flavor Flav.
Penn & Teller are back onstage at the Rio. The magic and comedy duo took a break to allow Teller to recover from back surgery and made their triumphant return late last month. The one-of-a-kind show has been extended for three more years at the Rio, where they originally opened in January 2001.
Twelve-time Olympic swimming medalist Ryan Lochte was spied making the Vegas rounds recently for a late birthday celebration, including parties at XS Nightclub and Marquee Dayclub and a big birthday dinner at Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse at The D.
Park MGM has unveiled yet another new concept coming soon to fill out its restaurant roster. La La Noodle, featuring authentic Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine in a casual atmosphere with an outdoor covered patio and a 1980s soundtrack, will arrive in November.
