Richards Jr propels Freetown to Parish League title

An all-round performance from former national and Leeward Islands player, Austin Richards Jr., guided Freetown to a five-wicket victory over Police in the finals of the Antigua Commercial Bank (ACB)/Sir Curtly Ambrose Parish League One Day Cricket Competition over the weekend.
Playing in Pigotts, Police was first to occupy the crease and were all out for 175. Jeron Jones top- scored with 61 while Alston Ryan and Kelvin Bowens made 39 and 21 runs respectively.
Richards, who is a police officer by profession, did the damage with the ball for Freetown, claiming four wickets for 38 runs while Javier Drew snatched three wickets for 45 runs.
Freetown, in reply, got to 181 for five with D. Wills hitting 43 and Glenroy Weeks making 42. Richards, following his heroics with the ball, chipped in with 39 to help guide Freetown to the title. Drew was also in good nick, hitting 22 not out for the victors.
Derek Mourillon was the only bowler of note for the lawmen, claiming two wickets for 33 runs.
Richards was named player of the final for his all-round performance while he also had the highest individual score of 117 runs.
Mourillon was the competition’s highest run-getter with a total of 287 runs while Drew picked up a total of 19 wickets as the top bowler.
